Once upon a time there were these two good friends named Pablo and Bruno who
lived in an Italian villange. They had big dreams and were go-getters. While
looking for opportunity to strike, they were offered the job to carry water
from the nearby river to the cistern in the town square. For every bucket
they carried to the cistern, they were rewarded 1 penny. Bruno was happy
because he had a good job. He thought his life was set. But Pablo wasn't so
sure about it. He then came out with a good idea of creating a pipeline
leading the water to the cistern. Bruno was happy with his current job and
disagreed to working with Pablo on his plan. They then went their separate
ways.
Bruno, earning one time better than Pablo kept delivering buckets of water
to the cistern while Pablo took half the day to build his pipeline earning
one time lesser than Bruno. Bruno had all the time in the world to enjoy in
the tavern while slowly and slowly Pablo dug his way to the cistern. He kept
telling himself, "inch by inch it's a cinch", "short-term pain equals
long-term gain", "keep your eyes on the prize"... and on one fine day while
Bruno couldn't get his shoulders straight anymore, Pablo's pipeline was
complete!
Bruno continued his way of bucket carrying but eventually fell sick. His
work stopped, so did his income. He found lesser and lesser time to enjoy in
the tarvern because he was worn out as days went by. On the other hand,
Pablo was in a very comfortable position. His pipeline paid while he played.
He understood that what he had accomplished wasn't a miracle. It was merely
the first stage of a big, big dream because he had plans that reached far
beyond his village to the whole world. The pipeline he built wasn't the end
of a dream. It was only the beginning!
